Paul Wynand (born January 30, 1879 in Elberfeld † 2 March 1956 in Berlin) was a German sculptor and professor of the heroic and monumental style of the Nazi era.

Life and Work

Paul Wynand first completed study at the School of Applied Arts in Berlin (sculpture), and he was from 1900 students including Paul Rodin in Paris. From 1901 he was a lecturer at the art school in Elberfeld. He worked on the crest of the outer wall of the Council Chamber Bochum (destroyed in the war). From about 1903 he delivered a number of important proposals for the Jugendstilära the Westerwald stoneware production, initially mainly for SP Gerz, Reinhold Merkelbach for later, and others. This activity continued until the twenties in years. In 1905 he took up a teaching position at the ceramics school in Koblenz / Westerwald. In 1911 he moved to Berlin in order to continue his sculptural work there. Received by him monuments in Wuppertal-Barmen, Berlin, Cologne and Castle Castle / Wuppertal and a bust of Goethe in the Federal Central Bank in Frankfurt. 1934-1944 he was a teacher for "sculpture" in the United State Schools for Free and Applied Arts (from 1939: "National School of Fine Arts") active in Berlin. In 1938 he edited a bronze sculpture "Falkner" at Berlin's Olympic Stadium.
