Paul Scheurich (born October 24, 1883 in New York City, New York; † 18 November 1945 in ) was a German painter, printmaker and sculptor .Brandenburg an der Havel
Biography
From 1900 to 1902 he studied at the Academy in Berlin. Around 1912 he won the Max Adolf Pfeiffer for cooperation in the Black Burger workshops for porcelain art. By 1913, Scheurich worked for Simplicissimus and produced stage designs for Max Reinhardt. 1918-1936 was followed by an exclusive contract and a professor at the Meissen factory, for he produced figural models in a rococo-inspired style.
In the Nazi state, he was an esteemed artist. In 1935 he created the stage curtain at the German Opera Berlin and the large tapestry in the building of the Reich Propaganda Ministry. [1] In 1937, he attended the World Exhibition in Paris. In 1939 he was represented at the Great German Art Exhibition in Munich's Haus der Deutschen Kunst with the sculpture shepherd and nymph. [1]
Paul Scheurich is considered one of the most important porcelain sculptor in the first half of the 20th Century.
