John Doubleday (born 1947) is a British painter and sculptor famous for his public sculptures and statues. He is a figurative sculptor, who works mostly in bronze. He was influenced by Charles Despiau, while spending time at the Musée Bourdelle, Paris. [1] Doubleday was born in 1947 in Langford, near Maldon, Essex and studied sculpture at Goldsmiths College. He has enjoyed a successful career as a public sculptor since his first one-man show at the Waterhouse and Dodd Gallery, London in 1968. His commissioned portraits include: * HRH Prince Philip
