PaintingsGiulio Rosati (Rome, 1858 - Rome, 1917) was an Italian painter.
Biography Giulio Rosati was an academic painter, mostly orientalist, member of the "Italian school". Orientalism, as a choice of subjects and painting style, soon became his favorite theme, especially the places and characters from the Maghreb of which he painted in a very colorful characters as if they were coming from a tale of adventure. On the other hand is not at all certain that he has traveled to the places he painted, and its documentation, therefore, not from direct experience, but from photographs or objects that could be found in those years in Rome, where he resided. [1] Rose painted in oils, but far more often and effectively with the watercolor, which he mastered the technique. He was one of the most prolific Orientalist painters of the period between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
