Artist Index PaintingsFelix Trutat was a French painter, born February 27, 1824 in Dijon, and died March 7, 1848. biography Born in Dijon, he was a student of Leon Cogniet and Pierre-Paul Hamon, but is also influenced by the Venetian painters, he has copied in the Louvre. He died from a riding accident in 1848 at the age of 24 years. He did not leave a child. His cousin Trutat Eugene, born in 1840, was a photographer and curator of the Natural History Museum of Toulouse. Felix Trutat leaves mostly portraits and nudes, in which he approaches Gustave Courbet. Many of his works are exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts in Dijon. Among his works exhibited in Paris, are: Portrait of a Woman, Paris, Musée Henner posthumous tributes A street named after him in Dijon. Leon Cogniet
